What is Raditaz?
Raditaz is a streaming music application using industry leading technology that allows you to discover new music on the go. You are no longer limited to your own stations or pre-built stations. Raditaz allows you to tag and share the music you love most. Not only will you be able to see what your friends are listening to, but based on our new music map feature you can browse stations where users created them or assigned them..
For example, when you create a new station, your station is automatically assigned geographical coordinates so other users can find your station in our map view or when browsed on our explore page. You also can apply tags to your custom stations (@home, #running #beach) to better define your station. Looking for something new to listen to at the gym? The tagging feature allows you to browse tags based on keywords, you can view what is trending in your community or discover new music based on the things you like to do.
Raditaz is about bringing personality to the music you love to listen to the most, creating a whole new experience. With over 13 million songs and hundreds of music stations in a wide variety of categories and genres, you’ll never get tired of the same old songs. Stream Raditaz right from your mobile phone or your computer.
Explore, Discover, Create, Share… It’s all free.
What is a Raditaz station?
A Raditaz Station is a custom stream of music. There are two types of stations “ My Stations” and “Raditaz Custom Built” stations.
My Stations are your own personalized stations that you create by clicking on “Create” and entering the name of an artist. When creating your own Raditaz station, Raditaz compares the artist that you seeded the station with to artists in the Raditaz music database, and presents a station to you of not only the artist that you seeded the station with, but also with similar artists. Within seconds, your new Raditaz station starts playing. Stations that you create are saved in the My Stations section of Raditaz.
Raditaz allows you to personalize your stations by using “Like” and “Dislike” buttons. If you dislike a song, you will not hear that songagain on that station. Please note that you may hear a song you disliked on another station if you have not disliked that song on that other station.
Raditaz Custom Built Stations (“Raditaz Stations”) have been curated by music industry professionals. There are over 200 Raditaz Stations organized in categories including Top Stations, Genres, Top Hits by Year and Decades.

Why can’t I play any song that I want on Raditaz or listen to an artist’s CD?
Our music licenses forbid hearing a song or artist in a predictable way. Our music licenses restrict the manner in which we can allow you to play music. Here are our primary licensing restrictions:
-
We cannot play a specific song at a specific time, or "on demand." (Raditaz does allow you to share Stations beginning with a specific song but we pay a higher rate to give you that courtesy.)
-
We cannot play more than four songs credited to a particular Artist in a three-hour period. This is the maximum, so each artist may play even less often than that.
-
A Raditaz station cannot play a playlist of only specific songs or artists: we must include a mix of similar songs and artists on each Raditaz station.
-
You cannot rewind, or immediately replay, any song on Raditaz.
You cannot independently download or store music from Raditaz. Our iPhone/iPad App caches Raditaz music for you but it will only replay that music according to our music licenses. Raditaz requires an active internet connection.
Can I play Raditaz in my business or get a commercial license to play Raditaz?
You may not use Raditaz in a “public performance.” If you are playing Raditaz for yourself while you work, it’s considered personal. On the other hand, if you are playing Raditaz over loudspeakers at your business for your clients or customers, this is considered a “public performance” and is not permitted by our music licenses or our Terms of Use.
Can I listen to Raditaz outside of the United States?
Unfortunately, no: we can only stream music that is legal to broadcast in the United States to Raditaz to listeners within the United States. (If you are not located in the United States, we would need to get licenses to stream music in your country.)
Can I listen to my Raditaz stations on more than one computer or device? Yes, you can log into Raditaz from more than one computer or, if you have an iPhone/iPad or Android, on your mobile device(s), all at the same time.
How do I create a Raditaz station?
You “create” a Station on Raditaz by giving us an Artist or Song that we can use to find other Artists and Songs similar to the first “seed” you gave us. There are several ways to “seed” a new Station:
-
go to the Create menu, type an Artist name you want into the search box and either choose one of the artist names in the result box (click or tap) or press Enter (or Play) to start listening to a new Station with that Artist as a “seed”
-
if you are logged into Raditaz, from your Play History
-
on the web site, click on your username and choose Play History in the drop-down menu, then click on an Artist (seed with that artist) or Song (seed with that song’s artist and start with that song) from one of the songs you listened to
-
on one of the mobile apps, go to the Me menu, open Play History and tap on one of the songs you listened to to seed a new Station with the artist of that song
-
on the web site, in the scrolling station history (album art in the right column), in the caption box for an album cover, click on the Artist name (seed with that artist) or Song (seed with that song’s artist and start with that song)
|
Note
|
If you are logged in and you seed a Station with the same artist name as the name of one of your saved stations, Raditaz may not create a new station for you but may begin playing your saved station instead. |

If the song you are listening to only plays partway through and stops dead or the player skips to the next song:
-
on the web site, if you are using Firefox or Internet Explorer 8, this may be a Flash issue. (For Safari, Chrome and Internet Explorer 9, the three other browsers we support, we use HTML5 so the browser is handling playback directly.)
-
this is most likely a network or music file issue: check your network connection (if you are using WiFi, check whether you have lost your WiFi connection); if it is not a network issue there may be a problem with streaming the music file and this is probably a minor problem that will not happen again soon—if it happens often and you do have checked your network so that is not the problem, let us know
-
if you are using Firefox or Internet Explorer 8, check whether you are using the most recent version of Flash. You can get the most recent version here.
-
-
on the iPhone/iPad App, this is most likely either a network connection issue or a one-time music file issue. You should experience this very rarely. If this happens to you often, please contact us and we will attempt to resolve the issue.
-
on the Android app, this is most likely a network connection problem. It may happen most often when you are moving between a WiFi network and a cellular (3G) network or when you are on the road. If you experience this problem often and it does not seem to be a network issue (you know you are on a good WiFi network or your 3G network is consistently strong), please contact us.
The music stutters while playing from the web site. I am using Google Chrome. What do I do?
This is a known issue reported by many Google Chrome users and other web sites. In some cases, especially on Windows 7 and Windows Vista, music may stutter during playback. Google is aware of this issue and we hope they will fix it in the next version of Chrome; until then there are two possible fixes:
-
if you have many windows and programs open try closing some of them; that has worked for some of our users; or,
-
try using Internet Explorer, Safari or Firefox (sorry, Google).
